Alan Hruska

Playwright

Alan Hruska is the author of several plays, including Laugh It Up, Stare It Down (Cherry Lane Theatre, New York, 2015); The Man on Her Mind (Charing Cross Theatre, London, 2013) and New House under Construction (59E59, New York, 2008-09, which he also directed).  He is a filmmaker who has written and directed or co-directed four films: Nola (2003), The Warrior Class (2006), Reunion (2009), and The Man on Her Mind (2014). His play Laugh It Up, Stare It Down is published and licensed by Broadway Play Publishing. As a novelist, his books include Borrowed Time (Doubleday 1985), Wrong Man Running (Severn House and Thomas & Mercer 2011), and Pardon the Ravens (Prospect Park Books 2015). In 2005 he made his New York debut as a stage director with an acclaimed production of Waiting for Godot at Theatre at St. Clements.  Among his other professional accomplishments, Hruska was for many years a successful trial lawyer and partner at a distinguished New York-based international law firm, where he is still senior counsel, and was a co-founder of the New York book publishing company Soho Press, of which he is still Chairman. Hruska is a member of the Actors Studio, Playwrights and Directors Unit.

Rick Lombardo

Director

Rick Lombardo is a stage director, artistic director, adapter and educator. During the 2016-17 season he will be directing two New York premieres, Ring Twice for Miranda and Albatross at 59E59, which he has previously directed in Boston (2015 Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Production), at Gloucester Stage Company and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Lombardo was the Artistic Director at San Jose Repertory Theatre for six seasons, where he directed the world premieres of The Snow Queen (New York Musical Theatre Festival Outstanding Production and Publishing Awards), which he also co-wrote with composer Haddon Kime, Game On (Theatre Bay Area Award Best New Play 2014), and Love in American Times.  For 13 years he was the Producing Artistic Director of Greater Boston’s New Repertory Theatre, where his productions were regularly recognized with awards and for which he received the 2008 Elliot Norton Prize for Sustained Excellence. His New Rep production of Bill W. and Dr. Bob played an engagement Off-Broadway at New World Stages. Lombardo is currently the Chair and Artistic Director of the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at Kennesaw State University.  He has served on the boards of the Society of Directors and Choreographers and the National New Play Network.  www.ricklombardo.net
